Lakeland Fire + Safety Awarded Airfield Rescue and Fire Fighting Protective Equipment Contract with Airports of Thailand

Airports of Thailand Selects Lakeland’s Battalion Proximity Turnout Gear Following Multi-Stage Technical Evaluation and Certification Review

Award Expands Lakeland’s Position in Aviation Emergency Response Across Southeast Asia and Highlights Demand for Newly Certified NFPA 1970 Protective Ensembles

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Sept. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lakeland Industries, Inc. (“Lakeland Fire + Safety” or “Lakeland”) (NASDAQ: LAKE), a leading global manufacturer of protective clothing and apparel for industry, healthcare and first responders, today announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply Airfield Rescue and Fire Fighting (“ARFF”) protective equipment to Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (“AOT”), the operator of Thailand’s six principal international airports. The award covers Lakeland’s Battalion proximity turnout gear together with certified firefighting helmets and follows AOT’s formal selection and deployment of the ensemble across its airport network.

Airports of Thailand operates six of Thailand’s principal international airports, including Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Mae Fah Luang–Chiang Rai, servicing approximately 126 million passengers in fiscal year 2025. The award follows AOT’s ongoing modernization of ARFF operations across its airport network.

As part of its modernization program, AOT sought advanced protective equipment that could enhance firefighter safety, operational efficiency and long-term reliability. Lakeland’s mandate was to deliver a fully certified, high-performance ARFF protective solution that met AOT’s operational requirements, international compliance standards, and long-term durability expectations.

Lakeland supplied its Battalion proximity turnout gear, engineered with a highly reflective aluminized outer shell that reflects radiant heat in the high-temperature conditions characteristic of aircraft rescue operations, and certified to NFPA 1970:2025, the consolidated standard that now governs structural and proximity firefighting protective ensembles. The garments incorporate an ergonomic sleeve design, reinforced cuffs, enhanced visibility elements and mission-specific pockets to preserve mobility and dexterity during operations. The ensemble was supplied with certified firefighting helmets to support head-to-toe protection for AOT's ARFF personnel.

The award followed a structured qualification process led by Lakeland’s regional team. Key activities included detailed technical evaluations and certification reviews with AOT’s safety and procurement teams; demonstrations of product performance and compliance with applicable ARFF requirements; alignment of certification documentation with AOT’s audit and approval process; and comprehensive training and familiarization sessions for ARFF personnel to support operational readiness following deployment.

The award expands Lakeland’s presence in the Asia-Pacific first responder market, where the Company serves fire services, police forces and aviation units through its regional sales organization and service centers across the region. Lakeland believes that combining certified protective ensembles with technical support and end-user training can strengthen customer relationships and create opportunities for future replenishment as equipment reaches the end of its service life.

“This award reflects exactly how we compete in the global fire market, pairing newly certified, high-performance products with the technical expertise required to support customers through rigorous qualification processes,” said Jim Jenkins, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lakeland Fire + Safety. “Airfield rescue and fire fighting is one of the most demanding applications we serve, and Airports of Thailand evaluated our Battalion proximity platform against applicable performance and certification requirements before selecting it for deployment across its airport network. Programs like this demonstrate the value of our product portfolio and our ability to support customers through complex technical evaluations.”

“AOT set a high bar, and our team met it with detailed technical evaluations, complete certification documentation and training delivered directly to the crews who wear the gear,” said Akharin Puwongthanarat, Senior Regional Sales Manager, ASEAN and ANZ, of Lakeland Fire + Safety. “This project reaffirmed the importance of combining technical excellence with transparent certification support. Our long-standing partnership with AOT continues to guide how we approach product innovation and service across the region, and we are proud that our solutions are the trusted standard for their critical emergency response operations.”
